Brazil Take-Home Salary Calculator
Free Brazil net salary calculator: INSS at 7.5% to 14% on the 2026 table and IRRF after the simplified deduction, every step shown.

What does the Brazil Take-Home Salary Calculator do?
It turns a gross Brazilian monthly salary into net pay by applying the progressive INSS contribution on the 2026 table and the IRRF withholding table after its deductible amounts.
- Inputs: gross monthly salary.
- Output: net pay with INSS and IRRF itemised.
- Method: the 2026 INSS and IRRF tables, evaluated in your browser.
Quick answer
A BRL 8,000 monthly salary nets about BRL 6,041 after INSS of BRL 922 and IRRF of BRL 1,038. INSS is capped at BRL 988.09 a month, so the contribution stops rising once salary passes the ceiling.
What This Calculator Really Does
A Brazilian payslip has two deductions: INSS social security and IRRF income tax. INSS is progressive across four bands and capped, so high earners pay the same maximum each month. IRRF is charged on gross minus INSS using a table of marginal rates and deductible amounts. Because the INSS reduces the IRRF base, the order of calculation matters — a bigger INSS means a smaller IRRF.
The rules it applies
- INSS 2026: 7.5% up to BRL 1,621, 9% to BRL 2,902.84, 12% to BRL 4,354.27, 14% to BRL 8,475.55, with the monthly contribution capped at BRL 988.09.
- IRRF table: 0% to BRL 2,428.80, 7.5% to 2,826.65, 15% to 3,751.05, 22.5% to 4,664.68, 27.5% above, each with a deductible amount.
- Simplified deduction: an alternative to itemised deductions, worth BRL 607.20 a month, not modelled here.
- Not modelled: dependants, alimony, and the FGTS paid by the employer (it never reduces your pay).
Worked example with real numbers
Gross BRL 8,000: INSS = 7.5% of 1,621 (121.58) + 9% of 1,281.84 (115.37) + 12% of 1,451.43 (174.17) + 14% of 3,645.73 (510.40) = BRL 922. IRRF base = 8,000 - 922 = BRL 7,078, which falls in the 27.5% band: 7,078 x 27.5% - 908.73 = BRL 1,038. Take-home = BRL 6,041 a month.
Reading the result
The donut splits the income tax from the social contribution, because only the IRRF is a tax — INSS buys your pension and social benefits. Note that the marginal rate of 27.5% applies only to the slice of income above the threshold, not to the whole salary, which is why the effective rate is far lower. Self-employed workers use a different INSS base, and the simplified deduction can reduce the IRRF further, so compare the two IRRF methods before filing your annual return.

Frequently Asked Questions
How is the Brazil take-home salary calculated?
Gross salary minus the progressive INSS contribution on the 2026 table (7.5% to 14%, capped at BRL 988.09 a month), then IRRF on the remaining base using the 0%, 7.5%, 15%, 22.5% and 27.5% bands with their deductible amounts. The steps panel lists each layer.
What do I need to use the Brazil Take-Home Salary Calculator?
Only your gross monthly salary. The 2026 INSS bands, the contribution cap and the IRRF table are all built in.
What does the result from the Brazil Take-Home Salary Calculator show?
Monthly take-home with INSS and IRRF itemised, plus a donut chart of how the gross divides and the taxable base.
Is INSS capped in Brazil?
Yes. The employee contribution tops out at BRL 988.09 a month once the contribution salary reaches BRL 8,475.55, so the deduction stays flat on higher salaries.
Is the Brazil Take-Home Salary Calculator really free?
Yes — 100% free, no sign-up, everything runs in your browser and works offline after the first load.
