What does the Indonesia Take-Home Salary Calculator do?

It converts a gross Indonesian monthly salary into net pay by deducting the BPJS employee contributions (JHT, JP and Kesehatan), the occupational allowance, the PTKP threshold, and PPh 21 on the progressive bands.

  • Inputs: gross monthly salary.
  • Output: net pay with BPJS and PPh 21 itemised.
  • Method: the progressive PPh 21 bands and the current BPJS rates.

Quick answer

An IDR 10,000,000 monthly salary nets about IDR 9,365,000 after BPJS of IDR 400,000 and PPh 21 of about IDR 235,000 a month. The annual PPh 21 is roughly IDR 2,820,000 once PTKP and the deductible contributions are applied.

What This Calculator Really Does

An Indonesian payslip separates the BPJS social funds from income tax, and the tax is computed on an annual base, not monthly. First the BPJS employee share is deducted: JHT at 2%, JP at 1% and Kesehatan at 1%. The JHT and JP contributions are deductible for PPh 21, but Kesehatan is not. Then the occupational allowance of 5% (capped) and the PTKP threshold are subtracted before the progressive rates apply.

The rules it applies

Worked example with real numbers

Gross IDR 10,000,000 a month = IDR 120,000,000 a year. BPJS = JHT 200,000 + JP 100,000 + Kesehatan 100,000 = IDR 400,000 a month. Annual base = 120,000,000 - 6,000,000 (occupational allowance) - 3,600,000 (deductible JHT + JP) - 54,000,000 (PTKP) = IDR 56,400,000. PPh 21 = 5% = IDR 2,820,000 a year, about IDR 235,000 a month. Take-home = IDR 9,365,000 a month.

Reading the result

The donut splits PPh 21 from the BPJS contributions, because the BPJS funds are your retirement and health benefits, not lost income. Note that only JHT and JP reduce the tax base; Kesehatan does not, which is a common source of confusion. If you have dependents, your PTKP rises and your PPh 21 falls. Employers also pay their own larger BPJS share, which never appears on your payslip.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the Indonesia take-home salary calculated?

Gross salary minus BPJS (JHT 2%, JP 1%, Kesehatan 1%), then annual PPh 21 on income after the 5% occupational allowance, the deductible JHT and JP contributions and the IDR 54m PTKP. The steps panel shows each layer.

What do I need to use the Indonesia Take-Home Salary Calculator?

Only your gross monthly salary. The BPJS rates, the caps, the occupational allowance and the PTKP are all built in.

What does the result from the Indonesia Take-Home Salary Calculator show?

Monthly take-home with BPJS and PPh 21 itemised, plus a donut chart of how the gross divides.

Which BPJS contributions reduce Indonesian income tax?

JHT (2%) and JP (1%) are deductible for PPh 21; Kesehatan (1%) is not. That is why the taxable base is lower than gross minus all BPJS.

About CalcProMaster calculators

CalcProMaster is a free library of 1211 online calculators across 20 categories — finance, health, math, business, construction, engineering, conversion, education and more. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser: no sign-up, no paywall, and no data leaves your device.

What makes these calculators different is transparency. Each tool shows the exact formula it uses and a step-by-step breakdown of how your inputs become the result, so you can verify the math instead of trusting a black box. Result interpretation, common mistakes, assumptions and limitations are documented on every calculator page, alongside worked examples and an FAQ. Health and finance tools cite the standard formulas they follow — Mifflin-St Jeor for calorie needs, standard amortization for loans — and state plainly where a calculator's answer should be confirmed with a professional.

The guides library goes deeper on the calculations people search for most: percentage and discount math, loan EMI and amortization, income-tax brackets, calorie and macro planning, concrete volumes and more — each with the formula, worked examples and links to the matching calculator. The glossary defines the terminology in plain language, and the public formula QA dashboard shows the verification status of every calculator's math.
