What does the Vietnam Take-Home Salary Calculator do?

It converts a gross Vietnamese monthly salary into net pay by deducting compulsory insurance at 10.5%, the VND 15.5m personal deduction, and PIT on the five-bracket schedule introduced by Law 109/2025.

  • Inputs: gross monthly salary.
  • Output: net pay with insurance and PIT itemised.
  • Method: the 2026 PIT Law bands and the 10.5% insurance rate.

Quick answer

A VND 30,000,000 monthly salary nets about VND 26,215,000 after insurance of VND 3,150,000 and PIT of VND 635,000. Insurance cuts the taxable base to VND 11,350,000 after the VND 15.5m personal deduction.

What This Calculator Really Does

Vietnam overhauled personal income tax from 1 January 2026. The old seven brackets became five, and the personal deduction jumped from VND 11m to VND 15.5m a month, with the dependent deduction rising to VND 6.2m. Compulsory insurance of 10.5% is deducted first and is itself tax-deductible, so the reform lifts the income level at which tax starts at all.

The rules it applies

Worked example with real numbers

Gross VND 30,000,000: insurance = 10.5% = VND 3,150,000. Taxable income = 30,000,000 - 3,150,000 - 15,500,000 = VND 11,350,000. PIT = 5% of the first 10m (500,000) + 10% of the remaining 1.35m (135,000) = VND 635,000 a month. Take-home = VND 26,215,000 a month.

Reading the result

The donut separates PIT from insurance, because only PIT is a tax — the insurance funds your pension and health cover. With the 2026 deductions, a single person earning up to roughly VND 17m a month pays no PIT at all; with one dependent the entry point rises to about VND 24m, and with two to about VND 31m. High-tech and digital talent may qualify for a five-year PIT exemption on salary under the new law, subject to certification.

About CalcProMaster calculators

CalcProMaster is a free library of 1211 online calculators across 20 categories — finance, health, math, business, construction, engineering, conversion, education and more. Every calculator runs entirely in your browser: no sign-up, no paywall, and no data leaves your device.

What makes these calculators different is transparency. Each tool shows the exact formula it uses and a step-by-step breakdown of how your inputs become the result, so you can verify the math instead of trusting a black box. Result interpretation, common mistakes, assumptions and limitations are documented on every calculator page, alongside worked examples and an FAQ. Health and finance tools cite the standard formulas they follow — Mifflin-St Jeor for calorie needs, standard amortization for loans — and state plainly where a calculator's answer should be confirmed with a professional.

The guides library goes deeper on the calculations people search for most: percentage and discount math, loan EMI and amortization, income-tax brackets, calorie and macro planning, concrete volumes and more — each with the formula, worked examples and links to the matching calculator. The glossary defines the terminology in plain language, and the public formula QA dashboard shows the verification status of every calculator's math.
